Feed back and visual

From to feed back I received a couple of days ago, I started designing my visual side of the assignment, what I might do to make it more interactive is make it that an animations is triggered by the users voice, getting across the idea of free speach.

So an example is a mouth on screen that may only move when someone speaks into the device. Here is an example I filmed:

3D mock up

Here is a mock up I made of my physical model. So what happens here is that the user has to twist the dials in order to experience the visuals. The actual model will be made out of wood and plastic. While durability is a big concern I think it will be able to stand up to "relative" fore. But I do think if someone comes in with the intention of breaking the objects, in that case yes it can break, I cant make it invincible....

Concept

Started working on some concepts for the physical object, these are based on old radios as stated below.

Another important aspect of this design is the tuner, what the tuner does is guide the user through the experience.

Phisical object

For my physical object I am looking at older (60's and 70's) radios. I want to create the same experience as when someone is tuning a radio to find a channels, except this time the user is tuning a radio to tell a visual story.

Chosen Year, 1973

Which happens to be the year that public radio broadcasting has become legal, prior to that time all radio broadcasts and channels were controlled by the government, but some "pirate radio stations" existed. Free speech and censorship are 2 key words that I will be looking into.

I already have some ideas of what I want to do for this project, I will post those up later once I finished some sketches and other illustrations.
